Start Your Memoir from Scratch - September 2024

Everyone has a story to tell. In this 6-week class we will generate new material as well as learn about the fundamentals of memoir writing including: vivid descriptions, writing what we don't know, research, structure, revision, and publication. Participants will be expected to complete some writing and reading assignments outside of class.

Instructor: Lara Lillibridge (she/they) is the author of The Truth About Unringing Phones: Essays on Yearning; Mama, Mama, Only Mama: An Irreverent Guide for the Newly Single Parent, and Girlish: Growing Up in a Lesbian Home. Lara is a Creative Nonfiction Co-editor for HeartWood Literary Magazine and holds an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from West Virginia Wesleyan College.

Details: Start your Memoir from Scratch with Lara Lillibridge takes place Wednesdays September 4, 11, 25, and October 2, 9 and 16 (note: no class on September 18) at 6:30-8:30pm online via Zoom.

Size: Limited to 12 participants (including scholarships).

Scholarships: Two scholarship spots are available for this class for writers in Northeast Ohio. Apply by August 19.
