Program Participation Interest

Thank you for your interest in participating in programs at Dreams on Horseback and Field of Dreams!  

At this time, we have an extensive waitlist for all of our riding lessons with the exception of opportunities for military personnel and their families.  While we are happy to add you to our waitlist, due to volume we are unable to respond to inquiries at this time.  We will reach out to you as spaces become available. 

Note: We DO NOT offer public trail rides or one-time rides. 

Our lessons are scheduled riding once per week for monthly sessions.

 

We offer the following types of programs:

  • Therapeutic Riding Lessons: For adults and children with special needs.
  • Traditional Riding Lessons: Beginning and intermediate English and Western style riding lessons for adults and children older than 7 years of age.
  • Military Friday Nights for Families (7-8:30p):Horsemanship, Horse care, Riding
  • Military Family Riding (Sat 12-1p)
  • Military Equine Assisted Learning (Alternating Monday nights 7-8pm)
  • Women Warriors

Participant Details

Please note that our staff will conduct occasional weigh ins throughout your participation in our programs for the safety of our riders and horses. We do have opportunities for participants who weigh more than 200 pounds.
Medical Conditions: Contraindications Preventing Services

The medical condition(s) listed below would prevent a rider from participating in our programs:

  • Down Syndrome w/Alantoaxial Instability (AAI)
  • Grand Maul/Drop/Atonic Seizure within the last 12 months
  • Complete Spinal Cord Injury above the T6 vertebrae
  • Tethered Cord
  • Poor head control (cannot hold head up on own with helmet on)
  • Uncontrolled Diabetes
  • Severe Hemophilia (<1% factor)
  • Moderate to Severe OI (Brittle Bone Disease)
  • Chiari II Malformation
  • Severe behavioral outbursts harmful to self or others or active animal abuse
Medical Conditions: Precautions or Possible Contraindications

The medical condition(s) listed below are precautions or contraindications for riding a horse. If your rider has one of these conditions, you may continue to complete this form to join our waitlist, but there is a possibility that we will be unable to support this rider.

  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Joint contractures or hip dysplasia
  • Neuromuscular Disorders/ Multiple Sclerosis (MS)/ALS
  • Myopathy/Muscular Dystrophy (MD)/Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA)
  • Brain Injury (including stroke), Cranial defect
  • Down syndrome
  • Currently using crutches, braces, wheelchair, walker for mobility
  • Poor head/neck/trunk support
  • Treated for conditions of the spine, including but not limited to spinal cord injury, curvature, fusion, instability, abnormalities, or Spina Bifida
