Poetry Writing & Revision

This is a seminar in the writing and revision of poetry. You will learn poetic forms, meter, and revision strategies from the works of Wanda Coleman, Yoko Ono, CA Conrad, Shane McCrae, Russell Atkins, and RD Liang. These lessons will be applied in a Critical Response Process workshop. By the end of the class, you will produce eight poems and develop new writing strategies.

Instructor: Kisha Nicole Foster is a mother, nationally performing poet, and teaching artist. The author of Poems: 1999-2014 and Blood Work, Foster is also three-time Ohio for the Center for the Book fellow, Regional Coordinator for Poetry OutLoud/ Ohio Arts Council, a two-time Pink Door Fellow, and a Cleveland Arts Prize winner. Foster uses her locution as a conduit towards healing and fostering truth within language; allowing mistakes and humility to guide her craft.

Details: Poetry Writing & Revision takes place Tuesdays April 13, 20 & 27,  May 4, 11, 18 & 25, and June 1 from 6:00-8:00pm remotely through Zoom.
