FIFABQ is always looking for some shuckers to help out. Tell us a little about yourself and where you'd like to get shuckin' and we'll be in touch! Here is a rundown of our volunteer opportunities. Read them over and select which you're interested a little further down in the form.
Gift of Gardening Program - (A crisis-time program only! Once life goes back to normal, so will our programming) - Are you handy and like to build? Would you like to help deliver garden kits? We'll put you to work!
Event Help - We usually have a spring and fall event. Spring is our Seed Share in February/March, and fall is whatever we come up with! Past fall events generally revolve around sharing the bounty of everyone's harvests. Other opportunities include tabling at larger events.
Harvesting ( June - October) - We always need a solid crew of harvesters. Harvesting everything from apricots and grapes to crookneck squash and green chiles! Last year we harvested over 14,000 pounds and we're looking to break that record in 2020! An information packet and training will be provided.
Distribution (June - October) - Help us sort and get all of our harvested fresh foods into the hands of hungry citizens!
Edible Community Food Forest (March - October) - Throughout the year there will be scheduled dates for people to come contribute to the installation of a food forest at the Semillas de Los Griegos Community Garden. Mulching, planting trees and plants, pruning, installing irrigation--there will always be help needed!
I Have Other Superpowers! - Are you a CPA? Have law knowledge? How about fundraising experience? Is grant writing your life's passion!? Can you translate our newsletter into Spanish??
