At Rutgers Hillel, all food that comes into our building must be nut-free and must abide by our standards of kashrut (religious dietary regulations).
Kashrut (Religious Dietary Regulations):
All food entering our facility, regardless of who it is for, must abide by our facility's standard of kashrut.
- Any purchased foods (packaged or preprepared) must visibly display one of the kashrut symbols found on this list of accepted supervisors.
- Any prepared or catered foods must come from a facility that is under the strict supervision of an Orthodox supervisor.
If you have any questions or concerns about our kashrut policy please do not hesitate to reach out for clarification.
Catering:
As described in the above section, all caterers must abide by a certain level of kashrut for their food to come into our building.
Rutgers Hillel currently does not have a full in-house caterer, however, we do have a cafe that operates on our property. At present, the Crunch Cafe does offer coffee, tea, and other drinks, along with pastries, salads, sandwiches, pasta, and vegetable and fruit platters.
Please click here to find a list of our pre-approved caterers whom we have a preexisting relationship with, along with their contact information.
As a reminder, if you are renting the Tanzman Kitchen or the Platt Family Kitchen, Rutgers Hillel will need liability insurance documentation from the caterer, listing Rutgers Hillel as additionally insured for the amount of $1 million, and a $1,000 safety deposit to cover any damages done during an event.
Please note, unless it has been prearranged and paid for, Rutgers Hillel does not provide renters with flatware/cutlery or tablecloths.
