Tour meets at the North Cemetery in Portsmouth

Cemeteries may have a spooky reputation, but they are full of invaluable information about our past. Take a walk with us through North Cemetery and learn about the history of colonial New England funerals - who spoke or didn't speak, how many gifts were given, how much alcohol was consumed, and more. We'll visit the graves of some fascinating Portsmouth residents and take a look at how our relationship with death has changed over these last few centuries.
