CU Bike Month 2018 T-shirts

Registered Bike to Work Day participants can pick up a Bike Month T-shirt at one of the 12 Welcome Stations while supplies last.  This year we are going with a High Visibility t-shirt to help us promote Vision Zero.

Vision Zero is a national grassroots movement seeking to establish a new safety standard for our streets and roads: Zero roadway fatalities and serious injuries among all users - pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers and passengers in motor vehicles.

Each Welcome Station will have shirts and they are available on a first come basis as long as they last.  We will also have these shirts at Urbana's Market on the Square each Saturday in May for market goers that arrive by bike.

Champaign County Bikes (CCB) is a friendly group of cyclists that are active in promoting cycling in the cities and towns of Champaign County! We welcome new people to join us in hosting and staffing events around our community. Check whatever interests you and we will be in touch. No experience is necessary. CCB works closely with the other cycling groups in the area and often we work together to make an event happen, like when CCB helps the CU Safe Routes to School Project hold events with school children.
Champaign County Bikes (CCB) sends out e-newsletters called "Let's C-U Cycle" with news about local bike-related events and opportunities. It gets sent out twice a month in the warmer months and monthly the rest of the year. If you do not wish to receive these emails, check the box now, or you can unsubscribe at any time.
2018 Project - Bike Fleet Trailers!!

In 2015 Bike Month participants contributed to the Kickapoo Rail Trail. And now we have Phase One of the KRT!

In 2016 cyclists raised money to purchase a fleet of 25 bicycles to use for Youth Bicycle Education Events all over Champaign County.

In 2017 our area cyclists raised funds for an Earn-A-Bike Program for individuals in our community who need a bicycle for basic transportation.

And in 2018, we are asking Bike Month participants to help us raise funds to obtain and equip two Bike Fleet Trailers.

trailer.jpgHappily, the Champaign Fire Department just donated a surplus trailer they had to us in early April (shown above), and we are scrambling to retrofit it to store and transport half of our youth bicycles, plus helmets, tools, tire pumps, cones for our skill courses, tables, and a shade tent.  Our first school event this spring is Friday, April 27, and then there are six more events on our calendar for May.  The funds we raise this year will cover our retrofitting costs for this trailer and allow us to purchase a slightly larger trailer for our adult-sized bicycles, along with the helmets, bike tools, and supplies to go with those bikes.  Operating out of these trailers will allow us to reduce the volunteer hours needed to set up and get organized for these bike classes for kids and adults.  That translates into being able to hold more events with the same number of volunteers hours, and that's good as the demand is increasing for these bike classes!!

Our suggested donation is $25, but feel free to give as little or much as you are able.  (CCB is a 501c3 organization so your gift is tax-deductible, receipts will be auto-generated.)  Thanks!

Donations are not required to participate in Bike to Work Day or any of the other Bike Month events.
