Thank you for your interest in going on this Alternative Spring Break with Michigan Hillel! We're Emma and Nina, your trip leaders, and we're super excited that you're interested!
On this trip you'll create new friendships, volunteer, learn more about the community and the work we're doing, explore nearby cities, and have a unique Shabbat experience! We are excited for you to join us on this service-learning experience.
Please fill this out to help us get to know you better and so we can address any questions you may have.
Our trip to Pocahontas State Park (Virginia) is in partnership with the American Hiking Society and Virginia State Parks.
On this trip, volunteers help split firewood, tackle invasive plant species, maintain gardens, and build and maintain the trails. We'll explore the park, go to a museum or two in Richmond, and enjoy a unique Shabbat experience. We will even have the opportunity to explore other cities nearby that last weekend!
The current estimated cost of this trip is $325. This includes housing, transportation on the ground, meals, excursions around the city, and the American Hiking Society program fee. This does not include air travel to and from the program. Depending on the size of the trip, we may decide to do group travel back to Ann Arbor on Sunday, March 10.
We hope to lower the price through different fundraising opportunities. We have scholarships available as well. If the cost is an issue, please contact Rebecca Grbinich, the Social Justice Fellow, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are looking forward to learning and working with you soon!
