Earth Day 2024

Come join us at the Theler Wetlands for an Earth Day celebration! We will be taking care of the wetland habitat and removing several species of invasive plants from the area. By removing invasive species and preparing the welands for spring, you will be helping our native plants thrive and conserving a vital native ecosystem that supports Washington’s wild salmon populations.

 

Along with our volunteer event, we will have several other activities happening during the day as well! 

Event Schedule:

ALL DAY (10am- 2pm)
A variety of arts, crafts, and educational games.
  • Arts and Crafts Fold and cut paper to make your own paper salmon!
  • Salmon Hazards: The Game A Salmon's life is a tough journey. This
  • carnival-style game will test your dexterity as you maneuver around the
  • various hazards they face. How many salmon can you lead back to
  • spawn?
  • And more! Themed coloring pages, Theler Wetlands Earth Day Bingo.

10am – 1pm
Volunteer Activities!
Help us care for the important habitat at Theler Wetlands. Volunteer
efforts at Theler will not only support a strong and productive ecosystem,
benefitting keystone species like salmon, but also help breathe new life
into an educational cornerstone of the community.

11 – 11:30am
Nature Walk
Join us for a guided walk of Theler Wetlands. Learn more about the
history of the site, both human and ecological, and meet some of our
favorite native plants along the way.

12:00 - 1pm
Planting Kits for Kids
Bring a mini garden home today! Kids will learn how to start their very
own garden including proper planting techniques, selecting good
companion crops, and more. Planting kits will be available starting at
noon until we run out. [Limited supply. Kits available on a first come basis]

1:30pm-2pm
Nature Walk
