About YPF:

A Commonwealth Theatre tradition continues!  This student-written, student-directed, student-acted, and student-designed production is one of the most anticipated events at CTC.

Festival Director’s Note:

Each year, the plays get better, the actors are more dedicated, and the directors’ visions are more brilliant.  I’m always thrilled to be part of a program that gives all students a chance to stretch themselves and try something new, or to take their first steps into a stage production.  I’m very excited to be part of this moment of discovery for CTC students.

YPF Facilitator Note

I have facilitated or co-facilitated The Young Playwrights Festival for the last five years.  At first I saw it as just an annual element of the CTC season.  Now I know better. YPF is a way for CTC students to showcase talents they may not have opportunities to display otherwise–writing plays, directing, being part of the design teams and technical crew. YPF is a tradition for CTC.  Students, staff, and CTC supporters look forward to seeing what creative stories our performers and playwrights will tell. In our comeback season after the pandemic, YPF was the one way our students could be part of a mainstage production.

I’m so glad to see YPF continue to be an integral part of YPF, and I’m proud I’ve been part of it for all these years.

Thank you for being part of it, too.

Keith
