As the effects of climate change increase everywhere, we are seeing firsthand the impacts around camp. The demands of maintaining Camp Tavor’s natural spaces are growing. In addition to the retaining walls, we face costly tree maintenance, drainage issues on our driveway, and a dock at Lake Kaiser that is struggling to keep up with fluctuating water levels. The global climate crisis presents a historic challenge for our planet, our communities, and our people. Jewish tradition compels us to rise to this moment and, similarly, to be a dugma (example) of how to unite to support not only our beloved machaneh (camp), but also the planet.
