You've heard of solutions journalism. You've read many articles that employed a solutions journalism approach but may not have known. Here's your chance to learn what it is, what its key components are, and you'll have a chance to write a solutions journalism piece during the workshop. You'll hear from several guest experts and have opportunities to connect to the Solutions Journalism Network and editors seeking SJ pieces. Christopher Johnston has worked as a solutions journalism reporter for more than 30 years and is well-connected within the profession as a member of SJN and ASJA.
Instructor:Christopher Johnston has published more than 3,000 articles in numerous publications, including American Theatre, Balanced Living, Christian Science Monitor, Cleveland Magazine, Crain’s Cleveland Business, History Magazine, The Plain Dealer, Scientific American, and Time.com. His book, Shattering Silences: Strategies to Prevent Sexual Assault, Heal Survivors, and Bring Assailants to Justice was published by Skyhorse Publishers in May 2018. He is currently writing a biography of a Green Beret who served with distinction in Afghanistan where he was gravely wounded and required several years to recover.
