Food Security Advisory Committee Interest Form

Hello and thank you for your interest in supporting the High Desert Food & Farm Alliance's food access programming! We appreciate your willingness to help us create a more equitable food system in Central Oregon.

ABOUT HDFFA

The High Desert Food and Farm Alliance (HDFFA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission is to support a healthy and thriving food and farm network in Central Oregon through education, collaboration, and inclusion. We believe that everyone deserves good food - defined as affordable, nutritious, culturally appropriate, easily accessible, and sustainably produced in Central Oregon.

The Food Security Advisory Committee (FSAC)

The committee provides input on HDFFA food access programs and projects and helps guide our efforts to create equity in food access in Central Oregon. The committee will be made up of Central Oregon community members including program beneficiaries, food security organizations, and the HDFFA board and staff. More information on the committee can be found on our website: https://hdffa.org/fsac The time commitment is five (5) one-and-a-half-hour meetings held annually via Zoom/phone (virtually) or hybrid in-person/zoom meetings in which the location will rotate throughout Central Oregon. Optional compensation for volunteer community members: $30/hour, to be paid post-meeting. We are currently meeting for 1.5 hrs. (total compensation per meeting is $45).

Definition of food equity

Food equity is the expansive concept that all people have the ability and opportunity to grow and consume healthful, affordable, and culturally significant foods (University at Buffalo).

Your answers will be confidential and only shared with internally with staff and/or board members that work with this Committee. Once you submit this interest form, we will contact you via email within 2-3 weeks to give you more information on the process and meeting schedule for 2023.
