Residency Questions

Please answer the following questions about your proposed Architects in Schools residency. Be brief but as specific as you can. There are a limited number of program residencies each year and your answers will help us match you with the most appropriate design/building professional. Teachers applying together from the same school MUST have the same residency goals. If you have questions please contact Kim Ruthardt Knowles at 503-317-7537 or kim@af-oregon.org. View some AiS final project examples.

Teacher for Class #1 Signature:

By signing this application, I am assuring that all information provided is true to the best of my knowledge and that I have read and am fully aware of the program criteria and teacher responsibilities for participating in this program. In exchange for a design/building professional coming to work with my students in the Architects in Schools program, I will:

  1. Partner with them to design and present an appropriate residency for my students
  2. Be in charge of classroom management and be directly involved in residency planning and execution
  3. Attend a program orientation
  4. Facilitate any planned classroom activities as follow up and prepare anything as agreed upon with design/building professional when planning

I understand that the design/building professional coming to my classroom is not a trained educator but is excited about sharing their expertise, and I will work with them and AFO as a team to ensure the success of this residency. If for any reason I am not able to participate fully in the Architects in Schools program, I will notify AFO staff immediately.

Applicants will receive an application receipt via the email address provided. If you do not receive an emailed receipt within a week, please notify Kim Ruthardt Knowles at 503-317-7537 or kim@af-oregon.org.
