Animal Shelter Liaison Shelter Liaison (two positions available, PWC and Manassas, choose only one) Do you have a passion for shelter animals? Are you good with taking a project from A-Z? We do and are looking for someone to join our team to help serve as the Prince William SPCA’s point of contact at the two local animal shelters. These liaisons will work in partnership with the staff at shelters to coordinate support, identify resources, and be a POC with the Prince William SPCA Board. Time commitment is 4-5 hours per month. Most can be done remotely or by stopping in at the shelter. Must have access to email and ability to visit shelter on occasion. Training will be provided. Position can be shared with two people who want to work together. Reports to Prince William SPCA board. Skills/Experience Needed: ability to work with people and animals, project coordination, communications
Wildlife Liaison Do you have a passion for wildlife? Do you want to help people and animals in the community? Are you good with taking a project from A-Z? Are you looking to get back into volunteering due to a retirement, empty nest, or recent move to a new area? If so, this is the position for you. Recently created to help support the Prince William SPCA Board, our Wildlife Liaison will work on projects that will benefit all-things wildlife. We have a huge new undertaking in 2024 that will need a dedicated person to coordinate (more on this to come soon!). Be part of this from the start and sign up today. Skills needed: email, communications, some knowledge or an interest in helping wildlife. Most work can be done remotely. Position can be shared with two people who want to work together. Reports to Prince William SPCA board. Skills/Experience Needed: experience working with or a passion for wildlife, project coordination, communications
Community Cat Liaison Are you concerned about community cats? Do you think our community needs to do more to address issues around community (feral) cats? If so, this is the position for you. In 2024, we will begin a new program to help engage the community and we are looking for a dedicated volunteer to serve as the liaison with our Board. The liaison will work in partnership with the community and stakeholders to identify helpful programs and resources to address issues with feral cats in Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park. Time commitment varies, but averages 4-5 hours a month. Most work can be done remotely, but some hours may be needed for in-person meetings. Training will be provided. Position can be shared with two people who want to work together. Reports to Prince William SPCA board. Skills/Experience Needed: experience working with or a passion for community/feral cats, project coordination, communications

Board Members

The Prince William SPCA is managed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors who oversee operations, direct funds, and manage programs. We are a small, working board. Potential members must commit to attending in-person board meetings once a month and agree to at least a one-year term. Board members typically select a specialty area and focus on making improvements.  This is not a hands-on animal role.  While there are opportunities to interact with animals, the Board generally is more administration, operations, and policy. We have two types of board members: Board Member (adult, over 18 years) and Youth Board member (16-18 years).
Do you have a passion for animals? Is there a problem you see in our community that isn't being addressed? Are you retired, recently empty-nested, or have extra time? If so, our board is the place for you! We are a working board, which means all members are expected to take on tasks in addition to attending meetings. 1 year commitment is recommended with renewals each year. Only serious candidates only, please. Time commitment is 3-4 hours a month with monthly in-person board meetings. More hours if your schedule permits and as new projects come up. We are a working board that leans heavily on its members for overseeing all operations. Skills/Experience Needed: Project coordination, communications, collaboration, operations, fundraising. Prior experience serving on a “working” board preferred. Board members are elected and those considered eligible must submit a nomination form for consideration.
Are you a teen ages 16-18 looking for experience serving on a non-profit board? Do you love animals and want to help? Is there a problem you see in our community that isn't being addressed? If so, our board is the place for you! We have an opening for a Youth Board member who will serve on the Board for one year. Commitment will be to attend monthly board meetings and oversee one program during your term. This is a great opportunity to enhance your college and scholarship applications while giving back and helping animals. Only serious candidates only, please. Time commitment is 3-4 hours a month with monthly in-person board meetings. Must be at least 16 and have reliable transportation to board meetings held in the mid-county area.

Please be specific about why you should be considered for this volunteer position. Tell us how you plan to contribute, how much time you can devote, and what you plan to accomplish is this role.
