Watershed/Groundwater Protection/ Management
$100,000 / 1-year Period of Performance

Application deadline: January 19, 2024

In 2024 Woodard & Curran Foundation will award one 1-year $100,000 Impact Grant for a project that focuses on the protection and/or management of our watersheds and groundwater supplies in the face of climate change.

Projects may focus on the protection, restoration, and/or management of our watersheds and/or groundwater basins in the face of climate change/natural disasters. Such projects could, for example, include management through reducing the impact of extreme weather events; innovative approaches to responsible land and water management; or remediation of impacted watersheds.

Our chief interest is in receiving strong applications for innovative projects that protect our water and environment and for which our grant funds will have the most impact.

An organization applying for an Impact Grant must:

  • Be US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.

  • Have received 501(c)(3) non-profit designation as of the date of the application and retain that status throughout the grant term.

  • Not discriminate on the basis of race, age, ancestry or national origin, sexual orientation, gender, physical or mental disability, or religion.

  • Not be a political organization, a political action committee, or a house of worship. (We accept applications from organizations with religious affiliations if the project is not specific to or primarily to benefit a religious group).

This application form is not saveable. Please review the application, have your answers prepared and your materials ready to upload. Please optimize/reduce file sizes to assure ease of uploading.

IMPACT GRANT REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES

Impact Grant recipients are required to file two narrative and financial reports: 1) at the six-month point; 2) at the conclusion of the grant. The interim narrative report gives a picture of progress toward project objectives and provides an important measure of accountability for the grantee. The interim financial report allows the Foundation to monitor progress based on the project budget vs. actual expenditures and funding received. Upon receipt of an acceptable interim report and approval by the Woodard & Curran Foundation Board of Directors, the remainder of the grant funds will be released.

SECTION E - PROPOSED PROJECT SCOPE OF WORK

Please tell us (in three pages or fewer / 12-point type, please!) about your proposed Impact Grant project.

The project scope of work should clearly define the tasks to be completed and should include a project schedule. Show how you have planned for and when you will achieve major milestones. Indicate how organization staff will be involved and the opportunity for volunteers to participate (including employees of Woodard & Curran). Tell us how your project demonstrates an innovative mindset – tying together new or existing ideas or technologies to successfully bring something new and valuable to the world. Projects should focus on action and outcomes and should not be primarily research.

We are especially interested in the impact of our investment. Will your project

  • have meaningful community-scale impact?
  • demonstrate sustainability? Will the project have lasting impact and can it be easily maintained?
  • be implemented in a real-world setting?

Please upload (PDF only) your project's scope of work. NOTE: 3-page limit.
