SAWW Chainsaw Certification Training

April 12 & 13

Hosted at Carpenter Nature Center's Minnesota Campus - 12805 St. Croix Trail S, Hastings, MN 55033.

SAWW Training is an umbrella organization that promotes safe and efficient chainsaw use, both professionally and recreationally. These classes will be taught by Nathan Stanford of Forest Safety Instruction at Carpenter Nature Center's Minnesota Campus.

Level 1 SAWW Chainsaw Certification Training

Wednesday, April 12, 8:00am - 4:30pm

In this course, instructors will give an overview of the SAWW Training Program, OSHA regulations and requirements, and instruct participants in saw body mechanics, personal protective equipment, necessary tools, saws, tree felling, and limbing, bucking, and topping.

Level 2 SAWW Chainsaw Certification Training

Thursday, April 13, 8:00am - 4:30pm

In this course, instructors will review concepts  learned Level One and introduce more advanced training including- maintenance, hands-on filing, RDT (Reduce Downtime), limbing techniques, precision felling assessment, and precision at the stump, including notching, hinge, species differences and terrain. Includes hands-on felling practice.
