2023 Volunteer Summer Camp Counselor Application

Position Description

Volunteers will be responsible for assisting the Camp instructor with craft instruction and implementation, supervising campers, daily set-up and clean-up, assisting Waterford Foundation staff with daily sign in and sign out, and other duties as assigned. You will help create a fun, engaging, educational, and safe environment for all camp participants. Camp projects may include weaving, painting, working outdoors in variable weather conditions (exposure to heat, humidity, dirt, water, biting insects), threading a sewing needle, stitching cloth, weaving, baking in an electric oven and an outdoor wood-burning oven, tending fire, playing games, and more!

Please be sure to complete all fields. There are 6 positions available. High school and college students will be given priority, but adults are welcome to apply. Not all applicants will be selected for an interview. 

Schedule

All shifts are Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:45 AM - 4:15 PM

Volunteers must commit to the entirety of at least one of the following shifts:

  • Session 1: June 19 - 23, 2023 (8:45 AM - 12:15 PM)
  • Session 2A: June 26 - 30, 2023 (8:45 AM - 12:30 PM)
  • Session 2B:  June 26 - 30, 2023 (12:30 PM - 4:15 PM)
  • Session 3: July 5 - 7, 2023 (8:45 AM - 12:15 PM)
  • Session 4A: July 17 - 21, 2023 (8:45 AM - 12:30 PM)
  • Session 4B: July 17 - 21, 2023 (12:30 PM - 4:15 PM)
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work with Instructor to implement educational activities
  • Engage children with interactive activites
  • Provide a safe, clean, and organized camp environment
  • Assist with the set up and clean up of the camp area each day
Qualifications

We encourage applications from those interested in art, childcare, fiber art, and/or outdoor adventure, but welcome a variety of interests. Minors will be screened via written application, personal interview, and reference checks, and must attend a one-hour training session before the camp begins (date TBD). Adult applicants will be screened via written application, personal interview, and reference checks, must pass a national criminal background check, and attend a one-hour training session (date TBD).

Compensation

This a volunteer position, but can be offered as credit for volunteer hours for school or other purposes.

Availability

Please indicate your availability for each session. Volunteers must commit to at least one full week of the camp, and a one-hour training session (date TBD, but likely the week of June 13 - 16, 2023.)

These camps are scheduled and will run if they meet minimum enrollment requirements one month prior to the camp start date.
