Financial Literacy Workshop

The workshop is a series of two classes designed to give you information and skills related to personal budgeting and credit management.  Using this information and these skills can help you become financially stronger and work towards a more financially independent future.

Class #1: Personal Financial Management

The first class is designed to help you understand the concepts and sound principles surrounding personal budgeting and spending plans.  Upon completing this class, you should be able to:

  • Developing personal financial goals

  • Tracking monthly expenses

  • Creating a realistic spending plan

  • Use a spending plan to reduce expenses and increase savings

 

 

Class #2: Personal Credit Management

The second class is designed to help you understand the concepts and sound principles surrounding managing your personal credit.  Upon completing this class, you should be able to:

  • Know terms and concepts associated with credit and loans

  • Identify costs associated with getting a loan

  • Identify the factors used in loan-making decisions

  • Explain what "predatory lending" is and why to avoid it

  • Explain the basics of Credit Reports & Credit Reporting Agencies

  • Improve your credit by:
    • Knowing what actions have positive and negative effects on your personal credit score
    • Understanding the steps necessary to improve your personal credit score
    • Safeguarding your personal information
