Stew Crew Volunteer Activities

June 7, 2022 - Buckthorn seedling pull at Fox Hill Nature Preserve

Buckthorn is a serious threat to forest preserves and other natural habitat areas. Let's work together to minimize its growth to allow native plants to grow.

June 13, 2022 - Roadside trash clean-up at Rudorf Nature Preserve

There is an abundance of roadside trash at the Rudorf Nature Preserve and we are asking for your help to clean it up! Safety vests will be provided.

June 16, 2022 - Buckthorn Haul at Thoma Nature Preserve

CLCF needs your help in the fight against buckthorn! Throughout the Thoma Woods are stacked piles of cut buckthorn and we need assistance to haul the buckthorn roadside for A Cut Above contractors Dan and Chuck to chip for removal. By removing the buckthorn piles we are reducing the opportunity for regrowth in the woods. Safety vests will be provided, as well as safety instructions. Please note that the start time for this date is 7:30 am, and feel free to attend at a time that works best for you.

June 23, 2022 - Trash Clean Up Day at the Lockman Property

Enjoy the morning with Abby, Mackenzie and the Stew Crew by removing a variety of trash and debris from a hard to reach area of the Lockman property. A local neighbor is working with CLCF to route us from their property for easier access and removal of the trash. Thick gloves and reliable boots are highly suggested as there may be glassware and other abrasive materials. CLCF's goal is to minimize the disturbance to wildlife and prevent any future waterway contamination. Help us in restoring this nestled area to a more natural environment!
