Ink: Structure in Memoir

This session will provide an introduction to common memoir formats, with a focus on the three-part structure commonly used in this genre. We'll look at several examples, and complete an exercise in which participants will identify key events in their own stories. By the end of this 90 minute workshop, attendees will have a better understanding of effective memoir structures and new ideas for possible structures/formats for their memoirs.
Instructor: Judah Leblang is a Boston-based and Cleveland-raised writer, teacher and storyteller. His essays and commentaries have been broadcast on 200 NPR and ABC-radio network stations around the US, including WKSU in Northeast Ohio. He is the author of two memoirs—Finding My Place (Lake Effect Press, 2012) and Echoes of Jerry (Red Giant Books, 2019) and has performed his one-man shows at Fringe Festivals in Chicago, Minneapolis, and Winnipeg and Edmonton, Canada.
