About this lecture: Photography has a crucial role in shaping collective cultures, national identities and relationships between communities. From pre-Zionist time to the 1948 war, photography was key in how new Jewish communities in Palestine captured and understood itself, its surroundings, and how it told that story to global audiences. This lecture will explore decades of shifts and changes in Israeli society through photography, also observing how institutions and individuals utilized visual technologies to shape their world.
