Unlocking Your Story's Potential: Generative Revision Workshop

We all have them: drafts that we can't let go. Maybe they're unfinished, maybe a tangled mess. Maybe they're technically proficient but kind of boring, yet they keep pulling us back. In this workshop, we'll tackle these rock-in-shoe, popcorn-kernel-in-teeth drafts, the ones that won't let you go. To do this, we'll work together to find the story hiding beneath the words then complete multiple drafts and draft-adjacent freewrites to unlock the story's potential. This isn't about moving words and sentences around the page; it's about digging deep. Expect to write until your hand hurts. Expect a supportive community and instructor feedback to help these projects reach their full potential.

Instructor: Kate Finegan's work is supported by Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, and Toronto Arts Council. She is novel/novella editor for Split/Lip Press. She currently lives on Treaty 6 territory. You can find her at katefinegan.ink and twitter.com/@kehfinegan.

Details: Unlocking Your Story's Potential: Generative Revision Workshop takes place Thursdays February 10, 17 & 24 and March 3 from 6:30-8:30pm remotely through Zoom.
