Adult Volunteer Application

Apply to join the Shirts Across America (SAA) Immersion Trips to New Orleans, Louisiana (NOLA) as an Adult Team Lead! During this 2017-18 school year, SAA will be building homes in the Gulf Coast area and may also help to restore the natural environment. We will be partnering once again with the non-profit organization, St. Bernard Project (SBP), whom have built 615+ homes along the Gulf Coast since Hurricane Katrina hit over 11 years ago, and the New Orleans base of Habitat for Humanity.

All adult applicants are asked to focus their attention on the safety of the students they oversee. SAA does run a complete background check on prospective Adult Team Leads prior to the trip. Our goal is to create a safe and dynamic experience for everyone involved before, during, and after our trip to NOLA.

As an Adult Team Lead your role will likely include the following:
* be responsible for 5-6 high school students throughout the trip
* drive a mini-van to assist in getting your team to the job site and other activities we have planned
* build homes alongside your high school team
* experience and learn about New Orleans culture firsthand!

Your guidance and positive energy will help these students learn about themselves and the people of NOLA. Space is limited, so apply today!

FINAL DEADLINE: Please submit this application to show your interest by Friday, October 6, 2017.

  • Role A – Act as ATL that may get the chance to interact with entire school group while also working with the students on homes several days throughout the week. This function is crucial! These adults allow us to provide the top quality experience you and the high school students have come to expect from SAA. If you see yourself as fluid and do not have to be on your student's team, this is the perfect role for you!
  • Role B – Act as ATL for a specific team. You will be the primary contact and provide guidance while driving your team throughout the entire trip to all destinations. If you would like to be on your student's team, this is the role you should select.
