Take Root 20 Endings and Beginnings

As the year comes to a close, we look back and see that despite a challenging year, we were able to serve Adair county with hundreds of free or low cost meals, provide a space for shared food and respite, and work towards a more resilliant food system.

As we look to the coming year, our Community Dinners will continue as we work with partner organizations to provide good, solid affordable meals for all. And, we look forward to reopeing in a new space this spring, with a cafe and a pilot garden program.

Your end of year giving will help us through a critical time, as we work to increase accress to good food in Adair County, support local growers, pulling us though a potentially tough winter and into the promise of spring.

We're Curious!

Making a nice meal affordable to all is a simple act in some ways: we put a delicious plate of food on the table on a pay-what-you-can basis. The food system behind the plate, however, can be complex. Take Root Cafe was started to address the intertwined impacts of the industrial food system - food insecurity, dietary-related diseases, and a weakening rural economy.
