Elements of Craft: Memoir Writing Workshop

Memoir writers have at their disposal many of the fiction writer's tools: scene, dialogue, pacing, description and character development, to name a few. At the same time, a memoirist must explore nuances of emotional truth, relationships, accuracy and point of view that inevitably accompany writing personal stories. Each weekly session will delve into different elements of the craft, using instruction, in-class writing and shared responses.

Instructor: Marsha McGregor is widely published in narrative and nonfiction writing. Her first-person essays have appeared in Kenyon Review Online, BrainChild, BrainTeen, Zone 3, Fourth Genre, Literary Mama and four anthologies. She has been a contributing columnist for Cleveland Magazine since 2008. www.marshamcgregor.com.
