One moment please...
Pruning correctly can keep your woody plants healthy and beautiful. But some pruning can actually create more work for you and stress your plants! In this class, you will learn the fundamental principles behind pruning for health and form. The class will discuss how plants grow and respond to different types of pruning, and techniques for pruning plants to enhance (and not fight) their natural form. You’ll hear about favorite pruning tools and venture into the Gardens to watch a demo!
The instructor, Cynthia Welte, has been a horticulturist for over 25 years. She has worked in nurseries, as a private landscaper, a gardener in public gardens and on campuses, and as an administrator at several botanical gardens (Bloedel Reserve, Kruckeberg Botanic Garden, UW Botanic Gardens, and Bellevue Botanical Garden). She now teaches horticulture at Edmonds College, leads tours at the UW Arboretum, and gardens at her home in Beacon Hill, Seattle.
