Explore Chanukah Texts through Sefaria

Tuesday, December 8th at 7 pm

Join JADE and Jewish Matryoshka Project  to:

- Meet the local micro-communities of Deaf Jews and Russian-Speaking Jews

- Discover the biggest online library of Jewish texts

During times when we are meeting only on Zoom, we can use this tool to connect Jewish micro-communities that usually do not overlap. Sara Wolkenfeld, Chief Learning Officer at Sefaria, will join us as we learn together about new ways of accessing Jewish texts through Sefaria. An ASL (American Sign Language) interpreter, live captioning and the chat box will make Jewish learning accessible to all. Together we will learn about new ways of accessing Jewish texts through Sefaria.

JADE, Jewish Advocates for Deaf Education, hosts a monthly ASL Meet Up for people who sign to get together and shmooz about something Jewish.

Jewish Matryoshka Project is a program for Russian-Speaking Jewish Families to connect, access resources in Jewish Community and connect with Israel. Programs are for young kids, adults and families to share in Jewish and Russian tradition, enjoy PJ Library books, cook delicious food and make friends.

Sefaria is a free living library of Jewish texts and their interconnections, in Hebrew and in translation. Sefaria is a non-profit organization dedicated to building the future of Jewish learning in an open and participatory way.

We welcome participants of all abilities. If you need any special accommodations, please contact Zina Segal at zsegal@cjeb.org, or Yael Zelinger at yzelinger@cjeb.org.
