How to Create Creative Nonfiction

This four-session workshop will provide an in-depth look at how to create prose that is fact-based and chronicles real life events rather than fiction, but can incorporate personal reflection, opinions and experiences. We will perform several exercises that focus on key skills required, such as observation, interviewing and shaping historical scenes. These can be applied to a wide variety of creative nonfiction pieces from personal essay to memoir, current issues and events and travel. Participants will receive constructive feedback on their writing, and we will also discuss markets for creative nonfiction. Open to intermediate writers.

How to Create Creative Nonfiction takes place every other Tuesday: 9/10, 9/24, 10/8, & 10/22 from 6:30-8:30p at University Circle UMC (1919 E 107th St, Cleveland, OH 44106).
