One moment please...
Second Saturday Workday: New Trail at Pump Box Brook Preserve

On Saturday, October 8th, we will gather at Pump Box Brook Preserve in Shapleigh to work on a new trail through the woods and out to the brook. This lovely property was conserved in 2020.

The workday will be led by Keith Davis - a Three Rivers board member and the local steward of Pump Box Brook Preserve. Keith is looking for 5 to 10 volunteers.

When and Where?

Please meet at 9 a.m. at the parking area which is located at the southernmost end of Knox Rd. in Shapleigh. (Google map link)

What Needs Doing?

Using loppers and handsaws to clear brush and branches, volunteers will open a narrow trail, following flags that are already in place. We will also move any woody debris in the way.

What to bring

  • Sturdy shoes for off-trail walking
  • Work gloves
  • Loppers and/or a handsaw (we will have some spares)
  • Water bottle or other hydration
  • Sunblock and bug spray as needed (we will be working in the shade)

Please also dress to protect against ticks. Having pant legs tucked into socks and a shirt tucked into pants is a great first line of defense against ticks, as you have a better chance of seeing them before they get to your skin.
