2025 GRANT APPLICATION FOR

for  Nonprofit Organizations

The mission of the Club is to preserve, enrich, and increase the natural beauty of the environment, with special regard to our city, for the public benefit through education, horticulture, conservation and other related undertakings. The Club’s programs, run by member-volunteers, are designed to foster an appreciation of nature, especially among young people

Grant Considerations: Grants are awarded for projects that align with the CGC mission as stated above. Amounts awarded range from $1,000 to $5,000.  Consideration will be given to the creation or expansion, or maintenance of urban gardens and farms that improve the daily life experience of area residents.  Projects that seek funding for seeds, plants, soil, mulch, fertilizer/compost and garden tools will be prioritized. Projects that include an educational experience will be further prioritized.  Seasonal internship programs will be considered.

CGC grants are not awarded for the purpose of funding staff salaries and administrative expenses.

*Total combined amount requested for Project and Intern Stipend not to exceed $5,000.

The grant application should include the following as attachments:


Please provide a description of the project and intended goal/purpose of the project. Describe the anticipated impact this grant will have on the community you serve. Include photographs and/or illustrations of the proposed project and a timeline for its completion. If your grant request includes a stipend for an established internship program, please describe the interns’ responsibilities and proposed weekly hours.

Please provide an itemized budget for the above stated project. (A sample budget is provided here. Hardware, home supply, and gardening centers are excellent sources of materials and can assist with budgeting.)

Please list sources of additional funding, eg. other grantors, should the project budget exceed what may be awarded by CGC.


Section IV: Additional information

1. Projects must be completed by the end of the CGC Grant Cycle, November 1, 2025.

2. Members of the CGC Grants Committee perform in person site inspections during Fall 2025. Over the summer, committee members will be in touch to arrange site visit times that are mutually convenient.

3. Grant awards will be mailed in May 2025 . Should the grantee misplace the CGC check, the grantee is responsible for picking up a replacement check from the CGC office or risk forfeiting the grant award.

4. Salaries and administrative expenses are not eligible for grant funds.
