Reflections of The Land Launch Party

Join us Friday, April 15 at 7pm for the launch of Reflections of The Land, our virtual anthology of powerful poetry and prose highlighting writers' relationships to the natural and built environments of Greater Cleveland.

“The Land” has always had a fraught history with the land. Cleveland strives to be a green city on a blue lake, moving away from its history with environmental disaster like the Cuyahoga River fire in 1969. Throughout the city’s history, there have always been questions of industry versus nature. The essays and poems in this anthology explore the ways in which the natural and the industrial fuse together to shape environments in Cleveland. These pieces look towards environmental writers like Mary Oliver and environmental futures that reckon with climate change. These authors engage with the fraught history of the Cuyahoga River, weeds in the front lawn, and the Terminal Tower.

This project is presented in partnership with The Land.
