1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Join two Dairy Barn textile artists and learn the art of flat felting to make a useful “Housekeeper.” Housekeepers are sewing kits that historically were made by women for their men going to war. It provides pockets for scissors, thread, buttons, needles, and pins. During WWI and WWII they were issued as part of the military gear provided to soldiers. Today, they make handy kits for sewers, embroiderers, the non-sewer to have a few supplies, or the traveler.

This class meets in two sessions and encourages participants to be creative in designing their own personal housekeeper. Students will have an opportunity to incorporate their own heirloom fabrics, buttons and other notions, if they would like. Otherwise all materials will be provided. Beginner sewing skills are helpful, but not required to complete this project.
