After NaNoWriMo - Understanding the Industry Before You Publish

If you just finished your Nanowrimo novel (congrats!), or you're starting to think about publishing, Literary Agent Erin Hosier and Publishing Expert Brandi Larsen explain how the book publishing industry works and introduce writers to the different tracks, terminology, and toolkit needed to understand the ins-and-outs of the publishing side of the business. Best for writers who are working on full-length fiction and non-fiction projects for adult readers.

Instructors: Brandi Larsen is a writer, speaker, and coach building a more inclusive publishing landscape. Her work at Penguin Random House helped create NYT bestsellers and her journalism pieces earned Emmy nominations. Her talks about publishing, leadership, and grief inspire audiences from Zoom to Harvard. She serves as the board president for Literary Cleveland and writes books and essays. Uncultured is published by St. Martin's.

Erin Hosier has 20 years' experience as a literary agent and has been with Dunow Carlson & Lerner in NYC since 2007. She specializes in selling narrative nonfiction and select literary and upmarket fiction for adults. She is the author of the memoir DON'T LET ME DOWN (Atria, 2019), and co-author of Patty Schemel's HIT SO HARD (Da Capo, 2017). She is the co-creator of the podcast Tell Me About Your Father, and is a consultant for writers and non-writers looking for self-publishing alternatives.
