Mike's Hikes 5/28: Archeology Hike with John Zachman
This hike will ascend along an old jeep trail from an elevation of 6600 ft to 7460 ft on the northwestern flank of Lands End, viewing archaeological sites along the way. The trip will be approximately 3 miles round trip, stopping for lunch at the turn-around spot.
This is a moderatle/strenuous hike due to the elevation gain of up to 900 feet, with an immediate elevation gain of 400 feet. Wear sturdy boots, a hat, and perhaps hiking poles for the descent down the rocky, relatively steep trail. There is shade within the PJ forest, however this can be a hot hike, so bring plenty of water and food. We'll meet at 8 AM at WSCC (204 Poplar, Paonia) to carpool to the trailhead.
