Making Meaningful Poems: Workshop for Emerging Writers

Generate new poems in this four-week class designed to kick your writing into gear. Each week you'll share your writing, find inspiration in published poems, and respond to in-class exercises to get going on the next piece. Throughout the class you'll discuss craft, experiment with new poetic forms, play with language and line breaks, and find out what sparks your process.

Instructor: Quartez Harris’ first book, Nothing, But Skin, was published in 2014 by Writing Knights Press. He is the first recipient of the Barbara Smith Writer-In-Resident at Twelve Literary Arts and a 2020 Baldwin House Fellow. He is represented by Mckinnon Literary Agency and has been featured in the Plain Dealer, IdeaStream, and a talk for the City Club of Cleveland. His works in progress are a picture book biography and young-adult novel. Learn more at quartezharris.com.
