2024 Cottonwood Days Volunteering

Hi volunteers,

Thank you for your interest in helping with Cottonwood Days this year! This annual field trip introduces Delta County 6th graders to the Gunnison River ecosystem through a series of hands-on stations. Once you're signed up, we will assign you a role and share the curriculum for this program. Volunteer roles include timekeeping and general floating help, leading a station, or assisting at a station.

Stations:
1. Native fish (led by CPW)

2. Macroinvertebrates

3. Fly Tying Demo (led by Gunnison Gorge Anglers, Trout Unlimited)

4. Eagle Rock Shelter timeline (led by Ute Indian Museum and BLM)

5. One for All (communication and teamwork game about water management)

This program takes place at Cottonwood Grove Campground in Gunnison Gorge NCA. Volunteer hours are from 9-2:30, with the students present from 10-2. Plan to bring a lunch and what you'll need to spend the day outside.
