2022 Architects in Schools Summer Camp Registration

Thank you for your interest in the Architecture Foundation of Oregon's virtual Architects in Schools (AiS) Summer Camp! During this camp, students will explore ways to address climate change through sustainable architecture and design solutions. The camp is free and recommended for youth ages 8-12.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: July 1, 5pm PST

CAMP THEME:
This year’s camp theme is SMALL CHANGES = BIG IMPACT, Designing for a Sustainable and Resilient Future. What are small things that you can do in your community to address climate change? Let’s explore, together! Camp participants will learn about the benefits of sustainable architecture and discover ways they can use design to protect the natural environment. Students will be introduced to technical architecture practices such as drawing, planning, model making and more. They will identify small changes they can make in their community to create a BIG impact!

HOW IT WORKS:
The camp will run from July 11-15, 2022 and will be entirely virtual - meaning you can participate from the comfort of your home, wherever you are! To engage in the camp, participants will need a computer, tablet, or other device with access to Internet and the email address listed on this registration form.

Everyday, we will email you the digital lesson including hands-on activities, reading, thinking exercises, and pre-recorded videos. There will also be a live Zoom session everyday from 12:30-1:30pm Pacific Time. These sessions are optional, but we do recommend students try to join as many as possible to fully experience the camp content.

ACCESSING ART SUPPLIES: (PLEASE NOTE: The supply request deadline has now passed)
Those experiencing financial barriers for accessing art supplies will be able to request that free supplies be mailed to them on this form (Oregon addresses only please).

Participation in the camp is free. We are accepting donations so we can send supplies to families who have barriers to accessing them. This will allow all children to participate regardless of need. Please consider giving to the Architecture Foundation of Oregon to supply all participants with materials and to help us offer free educational programs like this camp. Donate here - thank you!

Access to Art Supplies (PLEASE NOTE: The supply request deadline has now passed)

Deadline: June 24, 5pm. If you are financially unable to provide art supplies for your camp participants, we are here to assist you! We will ship free materials to camp participants that cannot financially access them (Oregon addresses only, please). Art supplies and materials that participants will need throughout the camp include: paper, pencils, coloring tools (i.e. colored pencils, markers or crayons), ruler, scissors, tape, recycled materials (i.e. cardboard, toilet paper rolls, cereal boxes, shoe boxes, plastic bottles, etc.) and more. Please specify below if you need materials sent to your home. Participants will fill out a Student Architect Journal throughout the week (a 20+ page 8.5" x 11" booklet), which will guide them through the week and offer space for planning, drawing, designing and learning activities. We recommend the journal be printed and filled out by hand.

We will email you daily with camp instructions, which will include links to webpages, videos and resources. We will also send a Zoom link for the daily live sessions. To engage in the camp, participants will need a computer, tablet, or other device with access to the email address listed on this registration form.
