This is recommended before attending the in-person training. You can find the introduction at: https://canvas.wisc.edu/courses/172203/pages/an-introduction-to-water-action-volunteers-wav?module_item_id=1884576.

Some volunteers choose to participate in nutrient monitoring, which is optional and comes with some additional responsibilities. Nutrient samples must be taken monthly April - October and dropped off at Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District (1610 Moorland Rd), ideally within 12 hours of collecting the sample (at most 48 hours). Samples must be delivered Monday through Wednesday, 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM, and must be refrigerated or kept on ice until they are delivered.

We will meet indoors at an ADA-accessible location, but we will spend much of the training outdoors in a park setting (rain or shine, except in extreme weather). We will walk short distances across grass (~250 feet). You will be invited but not required to enter the stream. If you may find these activities challenging, we may be able to provide an alternative, modification, or other accommodations.
