Within Liminal Spaces

My life became more fragmented after I became a parent. This fragmentation, though, I felt well before my partner gave birth to our son. It took becoming a parent, and living within the liminal space that parents do, that I realized fragmentation lends itself to my reading, and thus my writing. I am tempted to say that liminality lends itself – also – to my life.

Over the course of 4 months, we will read three fragmented narratives but – more importantly – generate (or regenerate) our own fragmented narratives. This class is for writers who often find themselves short on time but are interested in exploring and writing fragmented creative nonfiction. This class is for writers who want to be engaged but can’t be engaged all the time.

Each participant can decide how they choose to engage with the selected fragmented narratives: you can read all three books ahead of time, read them as the class progresses, or read them after the class has concluded. No matter your level of prior knowledge, your insight is valuable.

Details: Within Liminal Spaces takes place the third Saturday of each month February 17, March 16, April 20, and May 18 from 9am-12pm in-person at Literary Cleveland (13002 Larchmere Blvd. Cleveland, OH 44120).

Size: Limited to 12 participants (including scholarships).

Scholarships: Two scholarship spots are available for this class for writers in Northeast Ohio. Apply by December 11.
