Intro to Pottery II offers students an opportunity to build upon wheel throwing fundamentals and explore new forms and techniques. This eight-week class features instructor demonstrations, hands-on learning and available Open Studio time outside of regular scheduled classes. Demonstrations will begin with the technique of collaring, a way to create narrow-necked bottle and vase forms. The class will then explore "throwing-off-the-hump" with a focus on creating two-part goblets. Lastly, participants will depart from the ubiquitous roundness of the wheel by learning to alter bottomless thrown walls and slabs into dishes and cassaroles of any shape and size. This class is suitable for a variety of skill levels, however previous experience with Wheel Throwing I or equivalent is recommended.
Minors age 16+ are able to attend adult classes at The Dairy Barn without a parent/guardian. Please be sure to sign the release below.
