Ukraine was once the “Bread Basket” for the former Soviet Union. The war that started February 24, 2022 brought a lot of destruction and still rages on. Russia continues to destroy Ukraine. Russia has taken over villages, towns, ports, and crops. Russian soldiers have left nothing in their way. Ukraine had fertile fields that were able to feed its people and exported its crops to the world. But now, their fields are mined and on fire from the war.
THE WORST HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN UKRAINE SINCE WORLD WAR II:
- Since February 24, 2022, when the war began, over 14,000 civilians have been killed, over 500 of those were children.
- The number of displaced people and families has reached 18 million, nearly 1/2 of Ukraine's population.
- Currently, 12 million are in need of food, shelter and safe water.
- As of September 2023, over 6 Million refugees have left Ukraine to other countries.
