As part of a Girl Scout Gold Award Project, you are invited you to join in with other members of the community to assist in building a total of 20 screech-owl nesting boxes. The event will take place on the evening of September 16 from 6:00-7:30 at the First Congregational Church in Norwich and has been planned and organized the prospective Gold Award recipient. All are welcome!
The Eastern Screech-Owl is thought to be a species in gradual decline in the region. These boxes will serve as enhancements to their natural habitat and provide a safe and secure nesting area for these small owls. Our stewardship team has identified a number of suitable locations across Avalonia Preserves where these boxes will be installed.
