Do you have a love for both wildlife and art? Art can be an amazing way to make deeper connections with the natural world.
Join us for our first Wildlife Painting class with local Maine artist, Piper Castles of Firefly Field Prints! For our Wild Watercolors class, we will have the opportunity to explore the world of watercolor painting and get the chance to spend some time with one of the Center's non-releasable wildlife ambassadors.
During this beginner watercolor painting course, we will utilize one of our animal ambassadors as the live model for our artwork. We will learn about the natural history and story of our wild animal ambassador and then draw and paint our ambassador friend while adding botanical elements. This is a hands on class with every element of the art process demonstrated by Piper Castles herself. Through this course, we will learn watercolor techniques like wet and dry brushing as well as pencil shading to bring your work to life!
Our Wild Watercolors program will be split into both a Kids and Adult class. Our Kids Class will be for kids aged 13 and under. Both classes are open to beginners.
Supplies for this program were generously donated by River Tree Arts of Kennebunk, ME!
All Center for Wildlife programs are COVID-conscious and we take all steps necessary to ensure the safety of our visitors, staff and animals. This program will be held outdoors in our new outdoor amphitheater and proper physical distancing will be enforced. Masks are required while inside the building no matter vaccination status.
Tickets for both session are limited. Reserve your spot today!
