Adult Volunteer Application

Thank you for your interest in joining the Shirts Across America (SAA) immersion trips to New Orleans, Louisiana as an Adult Team Lead (ATL)! During this 2018-19 school year, SAA will be building homes in the New Orleans area. We will once again partner with SBP, Youth Rebuilding New Orleans, and the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity.

As an ATL, your role will likely include the following:
* be responsible for the safety and care of 5-6 high school students during the trip
* drive a mini-van to assist in getting your team to job sites, accommodations, and additional activities we have planned
* build homes alongside your student team and building partner supervisors
* experience and learn about the history and culture of New Orleans

Your guidance and positive energy will help the students learn about themselves and experience the city of New Orleans. We ask that as an ATL, you keep the safety of the students your top priority. SAA does run a complete background check on prospective ATLs prior to the trip. Our goal is to create a safe and dynamic experience for everyone involved before, during, and after our trip to New Orleans.

Space is limited, so please apply today!

  • Team Lead
In this role, you will be a chaperone for a team of 5-6 students. You will provide guidance and mentorship while also driving your team's van throughout the trip. You will be the primary contact for SAA staff. If you would like to be on your student's team, this is the role you should select.

  • Roamer
In this role, you have the opportunity to do many tasks throughout the week to help SAA staff provide a top-quality experience. If you have a designated skill set (e.g. photography etc.), see yourself as adaptable, and do not have to be on your student's team, this role may be well-suited for you! You will still have the opportunity to work with students and build homes during the trip. You will not be tasked with co-leading a team of students during the week unless extenuating circumstances arise.
