Rhyme & Reason

Rhyme & Reason stands as a guiding light on the West side, inviting artists and community members alike to immerse themselves in the transformative realm of expressive writing, exploring the process of healing, and self-discovery through creative writing in a variety of art forms and settings.
 
Join facilitators "BARRiOBOY" (Jean Paul "JP" Hernandez) and Jessica "Gemini Jae" Cancel as you use music as a tool to learn how to create a lasting connection with the power and vibration of sound and lyrics while writing to promote mental health awareness through personal expression. 
 
Instructors: "BARRiOBOY" (Jean Paul "JP" Hernandez) is a remarkable Community Activist, educator, DJ, and creator of BARRiOBOY Garden. Through his tireless efforts, he is uniting communities through the power of the arts, wildlife, and agriculture, making a lasting impact on his beloved Clark Fulton neighborhood and beyond.

Originating from Brooklyn, New York, Jessica "Gemini Jae" Cancel is a Puerto Rican-American multifaceted writer, poet, educator, and advocate for youth development. Raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Jessica is not only deeply ingrained in her community but also serves as the visionary creator and driving force behind The Association of Poetic Pioneers, LLC. Through this platform, she passionately engages with young minds, nurturing their creativity and self-expression through the power of writing. As a dedicated educator and artist Jessica's purpose and passion extend across various settings and educational institutions. Her endeavors underscore the significance of academic achievement, artistic expression, and the cultivation of identity and self-awareness. Through her work, she fosters a culture of reflection and community care.
 
NOTE: In keeping with our mission, to ensure diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, the registration fee for this event is "Pay What You Can." We believe every writer, reader, storyteller, and literary enthusiast who wants to attend a Literary Cleveland event should be able to have that experience. "Pay What You Can" registration allows comfortable, affordable participation for everyone. We have suggested fees—you can pay one of them, or pay what you can.
