Modern mining threatens the water, wildlife and a precious way of life here in the Patagonia Mountains, one of the most biodiverse places on the planet, and top of the watershed for the Santa Cruz River.
Patagonia Area Resource Alliance (PARA) fights at the frontlines to protect our natural resources and communities with inspired advocacy and effective litigation. Since 2011, PARA has increased awareness of mining impacts to water, air, wildlife, public health, traffic and more. Every permit sought by mining companies has been litigated to enforce environmental laws and regulations. PARA also leads a coalition of 16 environmental organizations responding to mining threats and formulating a climate safe and resilient future for this region.
