Dear Friend,

Thank you for your commitment to our mission that “Nothing is ever too much to do for a child.” Even though our founder, Mary Virginia Merrick, gave us this mandate over one hundred years ago, the need has never been
greater.  Our 120 volunteer members gave 10,000 hours to assist almost 4,000 children in Northern Michigan by providing essential items such as food and clothing, and by providing educational support.  And, The Christ
Child Society of Northern Michigan is the only non-profit organization in our area with no paid staff.  Every dollar we raise stays here in Northern Michigan to fund our many projects.

We know that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty, and this past year we initiated several programs to challenge poverty through literacy. Recently, one of our volunteers read to a pre-school group and afterwards, she gave each child a copy of the book to take home. One little boy gave her a hug and told her, “I will never forget this.” In the pre-school
classes with whom we work, the book we send home with each child is sometimes the only book the child has ever owned.

In addition to pre-school programs, we have classroom tutors who work with older children, and for the first time, we awarded scholarships to four deserving high school students. We even started a Little Free Library for our neighborhood, highlighting our commitment to literacy.

Any donation would be most welcome. A gift of just $25 would provide a needy child with a warm coat or winter boots. In 2018, we gave 159 children a brighter Christmas and this year we will double that number. But we can’t do it without you.

At this season of giving, we thank you in advance for your generous donation in any amount.

Thank you so much.

Kathy Schroeder, President
