A 100th Birthday Celebration for James Baldwin

“All artists, if they are to survive, are forced, at last, to tell the whole story...”
—James Baldwin

Join the local literary community to celebrate the 100th birthday of James Baldwin—one of the greatest writers of this or any era.

Literary Cleveland and ThirdSpace Action Lab will partner on James Baldwin's birthday, Friday, August 2 from 6:30-8pm to host a free in-person community reading at ThirdSpace Action Lab (1464 E 105th St, Cleveland OH 44106).

The mic is open to all. Please keep your pieces limited to under 1,000 words. You can either share Baldwin's writing, share your own creative writing influenced by Baldwin, and/or share a piece you've written about Baldwin's influence on you as an artist, thinker, and/or activist.

ThirdSpace Reading Room will also have copies of Baldwin's books for sale.

Doors open for the program at 2:30pm. Parking is available on the street outside ThirdSpace Action Lab and in the lot behind neighboring Studio 105.

Please RSVP/register for this free program.
