Foster Application & Agreement

Thank you for your interest in fostering with The Cat's Meow! Fosters provide temporary homes to cats in great need until we are able to find the cat's forever home. Fostering often saves a life, as we are able to pull another at-risk cat from the shelter or off the street only when a foster home is available.

To ensure we are a good match, please complete the Foster Application & Agreement below. Please note that submisson of this form does not guarantee approval for fostering. Please read the document thoroughly, as this document will serve as an official contract between you and The Cat's Meow in the event that your application is approved.

Foster Agreement

The Cat’s Meow expects each of its foster parents to comply with certain rules, as outlined in the provisions below. Please review each provision carefully and designate whether or not you agree to abide by its terms. In conjunction with the information you have filled out above, this form will serve as a formal contract governing your rights and responsibilities while fostering animals for The Cat's Meow.

1) Ownership

I understand that I have no ownership interest in any foster cat in my possession. Ownership of foster cats will remain with The Cat’s Meow at all times until adoption, at which point ownership of the foster cat will transfer from the Cat’s Meow to the adopter.

2) Indoor Only Policy

My foster cat(s) will be kept indoors at all times (except during transport, at which time the cat(s) will be in a cat carrier).

3) Exposure to Other Pets

My foster cat(s) will have exposure only to those pets I have included in this application. I will not expose the cat to any other animals without the explicit written approval of The Cat's Meow.

4) Adoptions

I understand that only The Cat's Meow can arrange for a foster cat’s adoption. I will not adopt the foster cat(s) in my care to any third party or parties without The Cat’s Meow's prior, written approval.

5) Adoptions (cont)

If The Cat’s Meow provides me with a foster cat and I decide to adopt the cat, I will contribute a $175 donation to The Cat’s Meow per cat adopted (the standard adoption donation), if approved.

6) Adoptions (cont)

If I am fostering a cat I have found myself and decide to adopt that foster cat, I will complete the application process for adoption. If approved, I will reimburse The Cat’s Meow for all medical expenses incurred in connection with the cat, plus a $25 donation towards administrative and advertising expenses, OR contribute a $175 donation to The Cat’s Meow per cat adopted (the standard adoption donation), whichever is less.

7) Adoptions (cont)

Once an adoption application is approved by The Cat's Meow, I am no longer eligible to apply for adoption of the cat(s) I am fostering. In other words, once the cat(s) has/have been promised to an approved adopter, I am ineligible to keep him/her.

8) Veterinary Care

I understand that The Cat's Meow will pay for veterinary care for the foster cat(s) only under the following conditions: (1) Care is approved in advance, in writing, by The Cat's Meow; and (2) Care is received at one of The Cat’s Meow's designated veterinarian offices (list to be provided).

9) Veterinary Care (cont)

I will not take the foster cat(s) to a veterinarian for any non-emergency medical care except with explicit written permission from The Cat's Meow.

10) Everyday Care

I will provide the foster cat(s) with food, litter, water, and toys, at no cost to The Cat’s Meow.

11) Adoption Events

I will transport my foster cat(s) to at least 2 adoption events per month (adoption events occur on every Saturday and Sunday, except most holiday weekends).

12) Advertising & Promotion

I agree to help promote my foster cat(s) for adoption by providing The Cat’s Meow with (1) a brief, detailed description of each foster cat’s personality; and (2) 5-6 current pictures and 1-2 videos of each foster cat. These materials should be submitted online through our website (look under "Current Fosters") or via email to tcmfostercats@gmail.com.

13) Suspension/Termination of Foster Care

I agree that if, for any reason, I can no longer house a foster cat currently in my possession, either temporarily or permanently, I will notify The Cat’s Meow at least 21 calendar days in advance by emailing tcmfostercats@gmail.com so that it may arrange for alternative care.

14) Duration

I agree that the terms of this agreement shall apply to every cat that I foster for The Cat's Meow.
